Six-Year Old Girl No Longer Insulin Dependent
A few short months ago, the lives of one our JDRF families changed forever. Lilly Jaffe, a six-year-old North Shore suburban girl who had been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when she was just one month old, became insulin independent. “She is so proud,” said her mother, Laurie Jaffe, “So happy and excited.  For the first time in her life, she can be like her friends and her brother and sister.”

Read more about Lilly’s amazing story.

Artificial Pancreas on the Horizon
The buzz around the promise of an artificial pancreas is truly deserving. “Perfecting a closed loop artificial pancreas” is one of JDRF’s five cure therapeutic goals in the next five years. JDRF has launched “The Artificial Pancreas Project,” a new initiative to help accelerate the availability of this technology to people with type 1 diabetes.

For basic information about Artificial Pancreas Project, download this PDF.
