The biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries are an integral part of the search for a cure for type 1 diabetes. JDRF has launched a major new funding initiative, Industry Discovery and Development Partnerships (IDDP), focused on establishing partnerships with both pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies to accelerate the discovery, development, and commercialization of therapeutics for type 1 diabetes and its complications.

As of July 2007, the total support and revenue for the Global Campaign, From
Research to Reality is expected to reach $764 million! We are hoping to reach out $1 billion goal by the first quarter of FY09.
More than 30 years of funding and directing research has culminated in development plans for the cure therapeutics like to lead to a cure. We have identified critical gaps in need of funding.
Please join us in supporting the campaign to fund these gaps, increase the progress of research and deliver a cure.

The buzz around the promise of an artificial pancreas is truly deserving. Perfecting a closed loop artificial pancreas is one of JDRFs five cure therapeutic goals in the next five years. JDRF has launched The Artificial Pancreas Project, a new initiative to help accelerate the availability of this technology to people with type 1 diabetes.
