The 32nd Annual Chance of a Lifetime Gala held on December 10th at McCormick Place raised a record breaking $3.5 million for diabetes research!

JDRF Illinois was honored to have Mayor Emanuel attend our Gala on December 10th. While there, he offered to donate a lunch in City Hall to help with fundraising. Donors who made a $250 Fund A Cure contribution that evening were automatically included in a drawing for lunch with the Mayor. We are thrilled to announce that the winners of this lunch are… Vince and Janet Zawaski of Oak Lawn!
With over 2,000 guests and 400 volunteers in attendance this inspiring evening got off to an exciting start with an expansive silent auction. Youth Ambassadors quickly sold out of their always popular mystery balloons before guests moved to the Lakeside Ballroom for a sit-down dinner and then to the Arie Crown Theater for the evening’s program.
Thanks to everyone who donated to our Fund A Cure program! Emcees Allison Rosati and Rob Stafford from NBC 5 Chicago kicked off the program along with Gala Co-Chairs Marci Eisenstein and John Treece. Fundraising Chair Glen Tullman took the stage before the start of the live auction. Bidding was intense for the evening’s live auction including a package to Costa Rica, which sold for $22,000! Then Fund A Cure Chairs Karen Case and Michael Alter began the Fund A Cure program, which raised funds for the Advanced Glucose Sensor Initiative. Guest and volunteers gave generously after viewing a video which included testimonials from the Case and Alter families. This year’s Fund A Cure program raised an incredible $1.8 million. The evening was capped off by an exciting performance by The Doobie Brothers.
